I have worked for chipotle for about 3 years I quit about a year maybe year and a half ago due to the poor management my chipotle had after quitting I started working retail but decided I was unhappy where I was so I decided why not give chipotle another chance ? That was mistake #1 I got re-hired at a chipotle about 30 minutes away from where I lived I had explained to my new crew and managers about my Terrible management from my old store and hoped this would be different, they assured me it would be and how excited they were have me on their team....so I thought. My service manager who I will call a snake swears up and down she doesn't like drama but every chance she gets she talks about every single crew memeber there for example one of our crew members recently got married at the tender age of 20 I can't quite remember and the snake had went on a whole tirade about how she's "special" and dumb she also talks badly of the other service managers and how 'lazy' they are compared too her and how she should be head in charge...right there I should've known because my GM is the same way. He talks badly of his service managers and throws a fit when things don't go his way and he doesn't control his temper very well. I have only been there a month but I already see the ugly side and my eyes are starting to open and realize that ALL CHIPOTLES ARE TOXIC, but what really sent me over the edge was me getting sick, everyone in the store is catching the flu , I unfortunately caught the flu and was coughing up a storm and sneezing and everything combined so I called in maybe 1 hour and half before my shift and explained I was sick and would not be able to come in ( if we don't remember the sick pay was put to encourage us employees to stay home if we were sick because that's one of the reasons why E. coli was spread) the snake stuttered upon her words before finally saying okay but find someone to cover your shift and then she clicked. I had no idea where to get everyone's number so I used my noggin and went on workday I texted everyone possible and no one was able to cover my shift i soon texted the snake about 30 minutes before my shift was to begin and said "no one is able to cover my shift, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to still go in?" She never replied so with my head hurting and the coughing never ending I took some NyQuil and fell asleep I woke up an hour later maybe hour and a half dazed and confused too see a message from my GM I thought maybe he was texting me to see if I was okay or something but no he had texted me "Next time you miss a shift get it covered" I was confused and then another message came in saying "I don't like or appreciate that you're telling crew and management you won't show to your shift, or even calling and telling us I've done a lot for you to be on my team, next time get it covered or call" okay first of all I called the snake manager explained too her and second of all it's not my job to get my shift covered in the event that I am sick it is MOD or The GM. Naturally I was pissed off so I texted my old field manager and asked him (he's not my field manager now) and he told me he had never heard of that and that my GM was in the wrong so then to get even more clarification I called chipotle HR GOD YES I DID and they told me the same exact thing. So when I work again which is this weekend if my manager tries to attack me I will be attacking back with facts, one thing I learned about chipotle is don't be afraid to fight back at your managers when you know they are in the wrong, and if all ends badly I will be transferring out to a different store.
