So, I am currently 16, and on the day after my birthday, I applied online to chipotle. I figured it would be an easy job, that would support me all the way through. The problems started when I walked in to apply. I met with two workers from the back of the store (crew workers). The interview seemed simple, easy, and I aced it. They said that when the manager came in to ask me questions, he would hire me. I was simply overjoyed, this being my first job and all. The first day I was supposed to meet with him, he just did not show up at all. I sat in a stool just waiting. For about an hour. Then the workers who interviewed me told me to come back the next day, so I did. The manager regurgitated the same questions that the crew asked me, shook my hand, then told me I was hired. He seemed extremely lazy, unenthuistic, and just plain irritating from the start.
I came in for my orientation after two weeks of waiting, yes two weeks. I walked into the store, and after waiting another twnty minutes, I was sat in the back office with two general managers. My orietation consisted of a lecture of "high standards" and " top performers". I was given a brief hygiene talk (which contradicts itself because the store I worked in was filthy). I was then given a jornal, and forced to watch a talk by a co founder on the computer that lasted about an hour. Then i was given a hat and two shirts, did not get payed for the day, (which they told me I would) and sent out the door. I came back a week later for my first day. I was given no training for "Tortilla two" which was my position. They literally sent me to the line to work. I was taught in front of the customers which meat to put on someone's burrito, and the customers knew more about the meats than me. I struggled for a week straight, until being made to cover tortilla 1. Which is even harder. How ridiculous. They sent me to a position that i recieved no eduation about, and expected me to perform perfectly. Eventually i got used to the position, and started to understand it completely. I recieved no help. After getting used to my position, I got to work for 2 days a week. for the next two weeks. I barely got any shifts. I then walked in to the store one day, and the manager immediatly called me back. He told me "Chipotle isnt right for you". I asked if he was firing me, and he nodded yes. I asked him why, and what i did wrong. He told me that I didn't display the 13 charactericstics. That I wasn't ambiious enough, and that all i cared about is rank ,and that the other workers didnt like that. Being not ambitious enough and only caring about rank contradict each other, right?! He then told me that my co workers didnt feel like i listened enough. I went in three times, and got fired. And i was faster than most of the workers there. I did an execellent job, and displayed all of their 13 characteristics, including being ambitious. What the hell... My aunt then called asking why i was fired and the manager said for two reasons: I drank coke in front of the customers, and that my co workers didnt feel like i listened to their commands. Stupidest reasons to fire a worker!!!!!Two things that they could have corrected if they wanted me there in the first place. Chipotle in a bunch of cow dung, do not work here of become a customer. They use the 13 characteristics to make firing workers easier, they dont pay the workers for how much they worked, they give no training to hirees, it is a miserable place to work anyway (which everyone here knows). Please, fight the chipotle problem, never buy food there or work them. waste of time and money.
Peace, another person affected by chipotle
